Parents As Teachers of Porter
County is a universal access, early childhood family education
program that provides free, one-on-one guidance and support to
parents interested in shaping their birth to five year old
children into healthy and functional children ready to enter
school and eager to succeed in life. Our mission is to help
families participating in our program through parent education,
early literacy coaching and family support. We provide personal
one-on-one monthly visits, parent/child workshops, parent only
forums, developmental screenings and resource networking.
We are dedicated to ensuring
children in our community are provided with every opportunity to
succeed. By working with parents on areas such as early
literacy, social-emotional development, gross and fine motor
skills, PAT children are better prepared in the necessary
Kindergarten readiness skills. More often they also love
to read. Parents As Teachers of Porter County is a 501c3
non profit organization and is 100% self funded.

YOUR BABY/CHILD WAS BORN TO LEARN!
In the first few years, children learn more and
at a faster pace than at any other time in their
life. You help shape your child's future through
the kinds of experiences you provide. Your baby
was born to learn, and as a parent, YOU are your
child's first and most important teacher.
PARENTS AS
TEACHERS IS HERE TO HELP YOU!
In the Parents As Teachers (PAT) parent
education and family support program,
PAT-certified parent educators are trained to
translate valuable scientific research on early
brain development in to specific when, what, how
and why information for families. By learning
what to expect during each stage of development,
parents can easily capture the teachable moments
in everyday life to enhance their child's
language development, intellectual growth,
social development and motor skills.
